An Online Resource: Admissions Academy's Blog Provides Information and Creates Community
Palo Alto, Calif., April 15, 2008 – Between Facebook and e-mail, texting and IM, today's students are more connected by technology than ever before, and the college admissions industry relies just as heavily on the internet and its resources to reach out to teens and their families. Of the University of California's 121,005 Fall 2008 applications, 99.5% were submitted via the UC online application. More than 300 institutions, including such diverse colleges as Harvard, Stanford, Harvey Mudd, Wellesley, and Pomona, now use the Common Application online. Growing numbers of high schools now interface with their students and parents through Naviance.
"With the abundance of information out there, it can be challenging to find accurate, helpful advice," says Associate Director Sarah Ziegler. "Therefore, in creating an Admissions Academy blog, we wanted to use our professional expertise to provide a free, reliable resource for families, and foster an online community that engages students and parents in the topics, questions, and concerns that are relevant to them. In its design and implementation, our blog is yet another forum for us to fulfill our commitment to service and education."
The blog covers a wide array of topics relevant to the college process: academic planning, extracurricular activities, admissions trends, and articles of interest. Subscribers are also given the opportunity to post comments, ask questions, and discuss issues of interest. Finally, in acknowledgement of the increasingly global nature of the collegebound community, a translated version of the blog is available in five additional languages.

Admissions Academy Launches New Year with Combined Service Location to Deliver College Admissions Expertise to Greater Bay Area Community
Palo Alto, Calif., December 10, 2003 – Admissions Academy announced today an important service milestone. Providing excellent service to Bay Area families has always been its top priority, and Admissions Academy is proud to finally implement one of its long-term service goals. In January, the Cupertino Academy will be combining locations with Palo Alto, bringing all of Admissions Academy's staff, expertise, and experience under Palo Alto's large facility. Pooling its college counseling resources will allow the counseling staff to offer more 1:1 attention to each and every one of their students.
