Can you help me get into my dream school?
While no college counselor can or should guarantee admission into a specific colleges, we work intensively with our students to ensure their applications represent their best possible work. We'll work with you throughout your high school years to strengthen your academic record, strengthen your extracurricular profile, build a balanced college list, and complete successful and strong applications.
Is it better to earn an A in a regular course or a B in an AP or Honors course?
Actually, it's best to earn the A in an AP or Honors level course. Whether you're interested in academic tutoring to boost your grade or help with course selection and study skills, our counselors can work with you to ensure your academic record is as strong as it can be.
How do I pick a summer program?
Whether you're a freshman, sophomore, or junior, there are thousands of opportunities available to you over the summer, and choosing the right program or programs in which to participate varies greatly from student to student. Depending on your areas of strength, weakness, and interest, we'll help you make smart decisions to make the best use of your summer months.
What is the SAT Reasoning Test?
The SAT Reasoning Test, or the "New SAT" (formerly SAT I), includes a Critical Reading section, Math section, and the addition of a Writing section. This new Writing section, including an essay, adds an additional 800 points to the top score, for a possible total of 2400. Our one-on-one SAT tutors work to meet each student's individual strengths and needs.
What's the difference between the SAT and the ACT?
The ACT is an alternative to the SAT, and most colleges consider the two tests equivalent for admissions purposes. The ACT includes a science section and the writing section is optional. Students often feel that the ACT questions are more straightforward than the SAT questions, and the timing procedures within each test are different. Building your college list early and working one-on-one with a tutor can help you determine if the ACT is right for you.
